Dukes baseball sweeps Bergen county

VINELAND- The RCSJ Cumberland Dukes baseball team secured their first sweep of the season when they defeated the Bergen County College Bulldogs in a 3-game set. Cumberland started the series with a 7-2 victory at home. Ty Powell and Jimmy Kurtz led the Dukes with 2 hits a piece. Kurtz, Powell, Andrew Baldino, and Gage Ambruster all brought in RBI's in the contest. Ambruster's 2 RBI's gave the Dukes some insurance runs as they headed into the last inning. On the mound, Donavan Gevers pitched 5 innings while giving up 2 earned runs and striking out 6 batters. Andrew Baldino would finish the game giving up 1 hit and striking out 7 opposing batters. 

In game 2, Cumberland would win a close contest by a score of 3-1. Rinick, Jonathan Cimino, and Baldino would all have a multi-hit game. Rinick and Ambruster would also bring in an RBI. Matt Misiti pitched all 7 innings for the Dukes, while only allowing 1 hit and striking out 7 batters. Misiti would give up 1 run (unearned). 

Game 3 would complete the sweep of the Bulldogs. The Dukes would be able to prevail with a 16-13 victory. After leading, 9-2 in the first inning the Bulldogs would battle back to take a 12-11 lead. Cumberland would put up 5 runs in the last 2 innings to leave North Jersey with a victory. Rinick and Ambruster would both have 2 hits in the game. Ambruster would also get the win on the mound.
