Cumberland Cross Country staying consistent

After a strong start to 2019, Cumberland Cross Country has maintaned their pace heading into the final month of the season.  Shyann Phelps and Javid Ridgeway have led their women's and men's groups respectively by placing near the top of each meet among Junior College participants.

At the Osprey Open, Phelps turned in a time of 29:19.74, which placed her in third place among JUCO runners.  This past weekend at the Salisbury Invitational, Shyann turned in her best performance yet as a Duke. Phelps placed 1st among all JUCO runners, 64th overall out of 113 participants, by turning in a personal best time of 26:22.  She continues to cement her legacy as one of the top runners ever to run in a Cumberland uniform.

On the Men's side, Javid Ridgeway continues to perform in a big way. Javid ran a time of 29:37.36 at the Osprey Open which placed him 5th among JUCO runners.  At the Salisbury Invitational, Ridgeway ran a personal best, 28:06, good enough for 3rd place among JUCO runners.  Teammate Mekhi Troxler-Courtens has been hot on his heels as of late. At the Osprey Open, Mekhi ran a 31:47.74 and ran a personal best of 29:15 to place 4th in the Junior College category.  Damien Grooms and Luis Vivar-Reyes have run well that also included personal bests at Salisbury. Grooms ran a 33:16 and Reyes ran a 36:05, good for 12th and 14th place in the JUCO category.

Cumberland Cross Country heads to Philadelphia on October 12 as they participate in the Jack St. Clair Invitational.
