Ridgeway leads Dukes at NJCAA Nationals

The Dukes arrived at NJCAA Nationals in Westfield, Massachusetts with hopes of being amongst the best in Division III Junior College Cross Country. The squad lead by Head Coach Dave Sheridan; did not disappoint. Both the Men's and Women's Cross Country team had a representative finish in the top 75 times for their respective groups with the Men completing a 8K run, and the Women completing a 5K run shortly after.

Sophomore standout Shyann Phelps held her own against some of the best women's runners that the NJCAA has to offer as she finished in 71st place out of a total of 121 runners with a time of 25:00:71.

The Men's Cross Country team was led by 1st team All-Region XIX and 3rd Team All-American Javid Ridgeway as he finished with a time of 27:20 which was good enough to earn him 15th place out of a total of 200 runners and it is the fourth fastest time Cumberland has ever posted at the NJCAA Nationals. Finishing just two minutes behind Ridgeway was Freshman Mehki Troxler-Courten as he turned in a time of 29:20 which earned him 52nd place. Rounding out the men's team was Damien Grooms with a time of 31:51 (126th place), and Luis Vivar Reyes who finished with a time of 34:03 (160th place).

With only one graduating sophomore look for the Dukes to continue their success into 2020.
