Dukes sweep Camden County, split with Salem County

Vineland- Coming off of four games in two days, the Dukes softball team earned an impressive 3 wins. Cumberland was able to get a sweep vs the Camden County College Cougars and a split vs. the Salem County College Mighty Oaks.

Game 1 of the Camden series was a pitchers dual for all 7 innings. Ashley Brag and Karly Smaniotto split the game, giving up 1 run over 7 innings. At the top of the lineup, Anita Hassen and Olivia Powers collected the 3 RBI's for the Dukes. In addition to her work on the mound, Karly Smaniotto also collected 2 hits on the day as Cumberland would win game 1, 3-1. Game 2 of the Camden series ended in 6 innings via the mercy rule in favor of Cumberland. The Dukes would get off to a fast start, scoring 2 runs early and then pushed five runs up on the board in the 5th inning. Powers, Sloan, Reece, Abby Pino, and Arianna Santiago all registered an RBI in the game. Cumberland would complete the sweep with a 8-0 win over the Cougars.

After falling to the Mighty Oak's in game 1 of the scheduled double header 6-3, the RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes softball team took game 2. Anita Hassen, Mollie Reece and Bailey Pennino all collected multiple RBI's. Lazaya Rosario also added an RBI in the game. Olivia Powers collected 2 hits including a triple, while Madison Sloan had 3 hits. Karly Smaniotto did the pitching and threw all 7 innings while securing the win. Smaniotto gave up 3 earned runs while striking out 3 opposing batters. 

Tomorrow (4/18), Cumberland will welcome in Region 19 foe; the RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners for a double-header scheduled to begin at 3:30PM. For all updates on Dukes softball and all other athletic programs, follow us on all social media platforms (GoRCDukes).
