Dukes split with Salem County on Sophomore Day

VINELAND- On a day that the Cumberland softball program honored 5 sophomores, they also welcomed in the Salem County College Mighty Oaks for a daytime doubleheader. The Mighty Oaks were able to take game 1 by a score of 15-12. The contest went extra innings and would be decided in the 9th inning. The Mighty Oaks were able to score 4 runs in the top of the 9th inning and hold onto a close victory over the Dukes. Anita Hassen and Mollie Reece both went 4 for 6 at the plate while driving in a combined 3 RBI's. Bailey Pennino went 4 for 6 with 5 RBI's including a homerun in the 5th inning. 

In game 2, the Dukes offense built a six-run lead in the fourth inning and never looked back. The Dukes tallied 10 hits. Anita Hassen, Mollie reece, Madison Sloan, and Bailery Pennino each managed multiple hits. Hassen once again led the Dukes in hits with three while also stealing three bases. Sloan and Pennino also added RBI's. Ashley Brag was on the rubber for the Dukes. The right-handed pitcher went all 7 innings, allowing four runs on 12 hits, striking out one and walking zero.
