Dukes take game 1, drop game 2 of DH

VINELAND- In game 1 of the double header series vs. the Sussex County Community College Skylanders , Karly Smaniotto threw a 7-inning complete game gem to lead the Dukes to victory. In the first inning, Madison Sloan got the scoring started with sacrifice fly to score a run. The 3rd inning was highlighted by 5 offensive runs led by singles from Sayde Nichols and Anita Hassen. The Dukes would add 1 run in the 2nd inning as well and that was all Cumberland needed as they win 8-0. Anita Hassen went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Olivia Powers, Madison Sloan, Bailey Pennino, and Sayde Nichols all added a hit as well. Sussex county was able to bounce back to take game 2 of the series with a 6-1 victory. Anita Hassen went 4 for 4 with a run scored. Sayde Nichols went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and Olivia Powers had an RBI. Ashley Brag and Karly Smaniotto combined to pitch all 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs.
