Dukes softball gears up for 2024 season

VINELAND- The RCSJ-Dukes Softball team is ready to embark on a exciting journey as they kick off their 2024 season. Coming off a remarkable year that saw them fall just two wins short of their second World Series appearance in school history.

Returning numerous key players from the previous season, coupled with the infusion of talented freshmen and impactful transfers, the RCSJ-Dukes are poised for a season of success. Head Coach Kaila Smith is at the helm of the program after spending last year as the teams lead assistant coach. The former Millville/Wagner College standout will mostly oversee the Dukes defense and offense while new assistant coaches and former Dukes Olivia Powers and Bailey Pennino maintain the pitching staff.

The 2024 season opens this weekend with a highly anticipated matchup against Division II powerhouse Delaware Technical College. In the following week, the Dukes will face their only out-of-conference doubleheader against Monroe College-Bronx. The remainder of the season will feature battles against Region 19 opponents, including Salem CC, Mercer County CC, Brookdale CC, Camden CC, Sussex County CC, Bergen CC, Middlesex College, Northampton CC, Lehigh CC, RCSJ-Gloucester, and Ocean CC. Each game will be crucial as the Dukes aim to secure their spot in the Region 19 tournament.
