Jersey Blues sweep Dukes

RED BANK,NJ- Over the past weekend, the Dukes softball team traveled to Red Bank, NJ to faceoff against Region 19 foe, the Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues. The last time these two teams faced off, it was in the Region 19 Championship game back in May. The Jersey Blues would win that series, as well as this series over the weekend. The first game ended in a 7-4 score in favor of Brookdale. The Jersey Blues were able to score all seven of their runs within the first 4 innings of the game. Cumberland battled back with 3 runs in the 5th and 6th inning, but it wasn't enough to win the game. Cecely Domingues and Jordan Spates led the Dukes with 2-hits a piece. Domingues, Anita Hassen, Karly Smaniotto, and Mimi Acevedo all contributed an RBI in game 1. Ashley Brag and Smaniotto combined to pitch 7 innings, giving up 7 runs and 3 strikeouts. 

Game 2 would be all Brookdale as they ran away with victory, 11-1. Cumberland was only able to gather 3 hits in the game. Mollie Reece brought in the lone RBI.
