RVCC Drops Home Opener to RCSJ Cumberland

Branchburg, NJ-Raritan Valley Community College baseball opened it's 2022 slate of contests on Tuesday. The Lions played host to Rowan College of South Jersey Cumberland County. The visitors jumped out to an early lead putting four runs on the board in the first inning on just one hit. RVCC starting pitcher FR Will Rodriguez, would settle in through the second and third innings, before RCSJ posted another four run inning in the fouth. This lead would prove to be insurmountable for the Lions. RCSJ would tack on another big inning in the fifth before crusing to a 17-5 victory. With the win RCSJ improved to 11-1 on the early season, while RVCC drops to 0-2. 

FR Tim Wright and SO Chris miller again had multi-hit games for the lions. Wright added another extra base hit, driving in Miller with a double to centerfield in the fourth inning to get the Lions on the board. FR Chris Nunez and SO Derek Vonhorn also added extra base hits in the losing cause. 

The Lions will return home for a double header on Friday, March 11th against Rockland Community College. The Rockland double header was moved up a day from its originally scheduled date as a result of the forecasted storms for Saturday. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for noon.
