Nasatka, Powell repeat as Scholar Athletes of the Year
VINELAND - In a year that saw tremendous individual performance by Dukes in all sports, two student-athletes shined the brightest. For these two student-athletes, it would be the second consecutive year where they served as the top of their respective areas.
Ty Powell earned Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year once again as he turned in a perfect 4.0 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year. He graduates from RCSJ-Cumberland with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. In addition to his fantastic academic results, Powell served as a catalyst for the Mens Soccer team where he was an All-Region and All-Conference performer during the 2023 season and was dynamic for the RCSJ-Cumberland Baseball program where he was named 3rd Team All-Region in 2025 as he would join the much decorated Dukes Baseball 100-hit club. Powell served as team captain for both programs.
Summer Nasatka earns Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year as well. The soccer star earned All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American honors once again and is the first athlete in RCSJ-Cumberland Athletics history to be named Conference Player of the Year, Region Player of the Year, and All-American in consecutive season. Nasatka then took on a new challenge by joining the Track & Field program in the Spring taking on the throwing events (Discus, Javelin, Shot Put). She would go on to earn All-America status in the Javelin as she placed 4th overall at the NJCAA National Meet. Summer finished the 2024-25 Academic Year with a tremendous 3.72 GPA.
