Cumberland Edges Northampton in Overtime, Clinches Playoff Spot

For the second consecutive year, the Cumberland Men's Basketball Program has earned a sport in the playoffs.  It took an extra period to do so, but the Dukes ended the regular season on a high note with a 76-69 victory over Northampton Community College.  Freshman DeAndre Solomon led the Dukes in scoring with 19 points and fellow freshman Seth Hackett followed with 18 points of his own.  Markevis Johnson added 15, and sophomore Michael Brown recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  The win improved the Dukes regular season record to 13-15 and their region record to 12-12.  The Dukes will open up the first round of the playoffs on the road on Saturday February 21st, with the opponent being named on Thursday after the Region 19 seeding committee meets.
