Cumberland Men, Women Sweep Basketball Doubleheader

The Men's and Women's Basketball programs completed a sweep Thursday night over Rowan College at Gloucester County.  The ladies took the court first and handled the Roadrunners by a score of 78-66.  In Game 2, the men showed no signs of slowing down as they came from behind to win 88-77.

Sophomore Sahara Lopez-Dublin led the Dukes in scoring with 20 points and dished out 7 assists.  Julia Dixon tallied another double-doulbe on the season, recording 19 points and 11 rebounds.  Freshman Sara Mazzeo added 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Freshman Shaheed Black exploded for the Cumberland Men tonight, posting his third consecutive double-double in as many games.  Black poured in 30 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds.  Sophomore Markevis Johnson sunk six buckets from downtown on his way to a 22-point night and Terron Mitchell added 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

Both programs have now won their last three games and Thursday marked the third straight sweep for the two teams.  With the important conference wins, the Women are sitting at 11-3 in Region 19, 12-6 overall, and the Men improved their Region 19 and overall records to 10-6 and 12-7 respectively.
