Bio

Jason Hearn was named Head Women's Soccer Coach on May 1, 2022.

Prior to RCSJ-Cumberland

Coach Jason Hearn's earliest experiences as a coach was when he was 16 years old helping his father with Mullica Twp Recreation League Soccer. He assisted his father and other teams for a few years while in high school. Ever since those early days coaching, Coach Hearn knew that coaching was his calling.

While completing his undergraduate, he started coaching various sports at his alma mater Oakcrest High School, while still playing semi-pro athletics in South Jersey. He volunteered with the Wrestling Team and Boys Soccer team, and was also hired at the Junior Varsity level for softball. He then was hired as an assistant for the Boys Soccer team and was their JV Head Coach. He was hired as a paid coach for the wrestling team after volunteering for 2 seasons, and became the Head Coach of the Girls Soccer program following his time with the boys team, and is currently still the Head Coach of the softball program at Oakcrest High School.  Coach Hearn has the most career wins in Girls Soccer history, he is 2nd in wins for Softball at Oakcrest High School, and is 2nd overall in wins as a Head Coach at Oakcrest High School in school history

Some of his fondest memories while coaching include being able to coach his son in wrestling and his daughter in softball. Coach Hearn also has enjoyed his athletes having success on and off the field!  He prides himself in developing not just athletes but also well rounded young adults.

Coach Hearn has been coaching one sport or another for close to 3 decades and has excelled in multiple sports along the way!

At RCSJ-Cumberland

Year One: Coming off 16 years as the girls soccer Head Coach at Oakcrest High School, Jason Hearn is excited and optimistic going into his first season at the helm of the RCSJ Women's Soccer program. Since taking over the program in May, Hearn attacked the recruiting circuit as feels good about his team's chances in 2022 and especially in Fall of ‘23.

At the end of the season, Coach Hearn was very optimistic about the years to come at RCSJ-Cumberland. The Dukes had a promising season that gave head coach Jason Hearn  assurance that this program's best days are ahead of them. After dropping the season opener to Ocean County College, the Dukes would return to the pitch and play back to back games where they would be defeated by only 1 goal in each game. Coach Hearn is excited going into the 2023 season, the 1st year head coach went on to say "If our last game together was any indication of what's to come, the future is bright for women's soccer at RCSJ-Cumberland. This squad battled for each other; whistle to whistle. They were not willing to let their FAMILY down. This team came together and left it all out of the field!".

Start of Year Two: Coach  Hearn entered the fall 2023 season with much excitement with the opportunity to highlight the talent of South Jersey Women’s Soccer. His hard work has paid off with a recruiting class that included Alana and Ariana Del Rossi, Summer Nasatka, Jocelyn Rodriguez, and Charisma Wilke along with core returners from the 2023 roster.  Hearn's first recruiting class yielded the best return he could have possibly imagined.  The 2023 season for the Women's Soccer program would be the most successful season in school history.  The Dukes would earn a 6-1-4 record and carry an unbeaten streak of 9 matches all the way to the North Atlantic District Championship game, the first time the program appeared in a championship game in school history.

Overall Vision for Program

Coach Hearn’s main goal is to create a program that will continue to be able to not only showcase the talents of South Jersey Women’s Soccer and surrounding areas, but allow for his student-athletes to create value for themselves and continue playing at a higher level. He wants RCSJ-Cumberland to be THE goto Junior College in NJ that bridges the gap for elite high school athletes that have a desire to continue their player careers, may have been overlooked, may have had setbacks during their careers, and/or want to prove they can compete at the next level; allowing them to then move onto a four year school to continue their playing career!

RCSJ-Cumberland  is looking for student-athletes with character. Students that are passionate, devoted, and have integrity. Young women that want to leave the program better than it was then when they joined. Athletes who are motivated and willing to work hard from Day 1!

Personal

Coach Jason Hearn lives in Mays Landing with his wife Lisa, recently celebrating their 23rd year of marriage, along with their three children; Jason Jr, 21 (Full Sail University), Michaela, 18 (Stockton University), and Alexandra, 11, who is starting middle school this fall. Coach Hearn teaches Psychology and History at his alma mater, Oakcrest High School. He has been at Oakcrest for over 22 years, first as a long-term substitute before being hired full time in 2002.
